The Los Alamos County Community Development Department (CDD) hosted a public meeting to solicit feedback on the first draft of its Short-Term Rental (STR) Program.
Meeting Purpose
This draft STR program is the product of extensive research of national and regional best practices, as well as a community involvement process. To date, the Project Team has conducted a Public Open House (Feb. 15) followed by a Community Survey (Feb. 23-Mar. 26), as well as steering committee meetings throughout the project. Members of the public were encouraged to attend and provide input at this important stage of the project.
The purpose of the this open house was for CDD staff and contractor Wilson & Company (Wilson) to meet in person with the community, present the draft STR Program, and explain how the public input process had thus far been incorporated. The public was able to ask questions and provide comments at the meeting.
The next draft will incorporate public comments through June 18, and will be presented to the Planning and Zoning Commission for recommendation to County Council for adoption via the County’s ordinance process.

This meeting had been rescheduled from February 15th because of inclement weather.
Meeting description
Members of the Project Team shared information about the project purpose and schedule. They shared intital research about short-term rentals (STRs) in Los Alamos County and in other similar communities. The Project Team then solicited input from the public about what they would like to see in the County's STR program.
The meeting had an open house format, with a presentation and Q&A session from 6:15-6:45 p.m.
